St. Louis – Tom Carnahan, President and CEO of Wind Capital Group, has been named to the Board of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the national trade association of America’s wind industry.  Carnahan, who founded Wind Capital Group in 2005, has quickly established the company as one of America’s leading wind energy developers.

“I firmly believe that by harnessing clean, renewable sources of energy like wind, we can create jobs, generate opportunity, and help forge a path to American energy independence,” said Carnahan.  “It is a real honor to be named to the Board of AWEA, particularly at this critical juncture in our nation’s history.

“I look forward to working with the other members of the AWEA Board on important issues like passage of a national renewable energy standard, which will send a strong signal of America’s commitment to renewable sources of energy.”

Wind Capital Group remains dedicated to its Midwestern roots and the smart growth principles that were the foundation of its early success.  The company’s first wind farm, the Blue Grass Ridge Wind Farm in King City, Missouri, was developed in 2006. Wind Capital Group now has offices in three states (Missouri, Illinois, and Wisconsin), wind energy projects under development in 16 states, a development pipeline of over 2,500 megawatts, and plans for continued growth.

“AWEA staff depends on its Board of Directors for insight on the wind business and how policy will impact it,” said Denise Bode, AWEA’s Chief Executive Officer. “At this time of challenge and opportunity for the wind industry, we are very fortunate to have Tom Carnahan join our board.  His know-how and proven success as a wind developer will truly benefit us as we grow our industry.”
